ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Welcome to 2015! Our tenth anniversary year is over and now we enter ... THE FUTURE! Watch this video for flying cars and special effects and alien invasions and dystopian landscapes and sentient robits who want to use us as batteries.

Miri Ben-Ari is an incredible classically trained violinist who learned to play some Hip Hop riffs while living in NYC. This got her the attention of producers who marketed her as the "Hip Hop Violinist". She released this track on an album that guest featured a bunch of rappers and, while they're all worth a listen (check the link below), this one is the dancinest track of the bunch according us FUNKMODE musical expert geniuses connoisseurs smart guys. Don't believe us? Check out the album and decide for yourself. In the meantime, enjoy this video of us bustin' out Dancehall style.

Song: Bounce - Artist: Timbaland, Jutin Timberlake, Dr. Dre, Missy Elliott - February 2015

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Our first dance of 2015 had a strong Dancehall feel, and to give our students exposure to a diversity of style, we decided to go with this track from Timbaland (which was featured in "Step Up 2") because it has such a unique feel. There was a concern that because the BPMs were so low, that the dance could get boring if the choreo wasn't right, so we put extra effort into creating the piece. The work must have paid off because multiple students said this was their favorite dance. What do you think about it?

Song: Beast Out the Box - Artist: ¡Mayday! and MURS - March 2015

Get "Beast Out The Box" by ¡Mayday! and MURS @ www.strangemusicinc.net

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: For our specialty dance this session, we decided to break out (pun intended) the most old school Hip Hop style there is, Rocking. At first known as Uprocking, the Brooklyn Rock or just Rocking, NY B-boys back in the 1970s started to adapt the style from what was usually done in pairs or groups, to a solo set and rebranded it as Toprocking. As the style and skills of the B-boys/B-girls evolved, serious floor technique in the form of power moves, spins and intricate footwork started being included which led to the form that most people now think of when they refer to Breaking.

We wanted to let our students get a taste of what made Hip Hop dance what it is today and dip their toes in the waters of Rocking. We kept most of it above the ground but still allowed for a few drops and a bit of footwork to let them see how the style grew from the rhythmic above-the-floor movements to the powerful down-on-the-floor groove that B-boying is known for today.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the video to this track which is filled from opening to closing with highly skilled Breakers showing off why the style is so international loved over 40 years later. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9nYN-lNWUg)

Song: Get Naked You Beezy - Artist: The Federation - March 2015

Get "Get Naked You Beezy" by The Federation @ http://amzn.com/B001229E7U
It's also on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Final dance of the Winter, time to heat it up. We're Bay Area natives, aka Baydestrians, aka Hella Fresh, and therefore we likes our Hyphy and we likes our Federation. This is one of the few Federation jams that we hadn't danced to yet, so we dusted it off and popped it in the tape deck (our Victrola was in the shop). We put our signature wylin' out style on it then mixed it with a little bit of partnering and EUREKA (Cali Terminology/Motto), we have a dance worthy of The Bay.
