SUMMER 2013 - YOUTH HIP HOP DANCE CLASS VIDEOS

"Dance Competition in the Park" - Music Video Summer Camp 2013

Get "Dance" by Rye Rye off the "Go! Pop! Bang!" album @ http://www.amazon.com/Go-Pop-Bang-Rye/dp/B003WKA83O
It's also on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: These things keep getting bigger and bigger all of the time. This one here's our TENTH music video camp, umm, video. We wanted to do it old timey, silent movie style. So we told our kids to overact, overdance and overplay. As you can imagine, they had no problem with that.

Long story short synopsis: A group of kids want to win like a bagillion dollars in a dance competition in the park but someone keeps piling on new rules. Refusing to be defeated, these pluckly little scamps rise up to meet every new challenge. Then they dance like bosses.

If you've never heard of FUNKMODE's Music Video Summer Camps before, we take a group of kids out on location for a whole week and work for hours each day to put together their very own music video. It's pretty much the best possible way to spend a week during the Summer if you're a Hip Hop loving kid. AND we have a TON of funkin fun!

Congratulations to Kaveer, Bailey, Grace, Dylan, Sean, Kent and Gillian on their winnings. Hopefully, you didn't blow it on all on a government bailout or something equally as wasteful. What do kids buy these days, anyway? Gum? Yeah, go buy some gum.

As always, thanks for watching, subscribing and supporting the FUNK!

All love,
- FUNKMODE

"The Dance Doctor" - Music Video Summer Camp 2013

Get "Have Some Fun" by Pitbull, Afrojack and The Wanted off of his "Global Warming" album @ http://www.amazon.com/Global-Warming-Pitbull/dp/B00A3OT34M
It's also on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: We seriously upped the ante last summer by producing a full on television pilot episode with "Dance Swap" @ http://funkmode.com/youthdancevideos/summer_videos_2012.php. Never settling for last year's best, this time we made a short "found footage" style movie/documentary called "The Dance Doctor".

Long story short synopsis: Film footage was found at an auction that looked to be the beginnings of a documentary on a controversial medical practitioner known as "The Dance Doctor". It was compiled and made into a short film.

Congratulations to Sierra, London, Liam, Landon, Timur, Autumn, Maya, Margot, Molly, Kylianna, Abbot, Ande, Rapture, Cheez-It, Andrew (aka Kobra), Aiden, Ava, Ginger and Charlize on finding the way to healing your weirdo ailments through dance. Maybe next year we can heal your foot odor with music. I mean, we have to try something. Somebody could get hurt with them smells.

Producer's note: much of the scenes you see with the "Dance Doctor" are improvised. Yeah, she was that good.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Just a quicky from Summer of 2013 to "Playground" by ABC. We shot this during a lesson on New Jack Swing and Old School Hip Hop dancing. If you wanna see them representing all that learnin', check out THIS video ... http://youtu.be/pmbH7SmdlBw

Song: Run - Artist: Flo Rida / Redfoo of LMFAO - July 2013

Get "Run" by Flo Rida off of his "Wild Ones" album @ http://www.amazon.com/Feat-Redfoo-Lmfao-Bonus-Track/dp/B00BPB8MNK
It's also on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: To kick off a hot, hOT, HOT Summer, we chose Flo Rida's track "Run" off of his "Wild Ones" album. Get it? Cuz running wild in Florida would be really hot? No? Who asked you?

To add a degree of challenge to this dance, we let the kids choreograph parts of it themselves. Every one of them from ages 5 to 15 put their own moves together and we helped them fit what they created into this dance.

Song: Play it Again - Artist: Becky G - August 2013

Get "Play It Again" from Becky G @ http://www.amazon.com/Play-It-Again-Becky-G/dp/B00DRZ07PI. It's also available on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Becky G showed up on our radar when we saw her tear it up in a local performance in the Bay Area this past Summer. One of the songs she performed was the one you hear here, which we thought would be great for our youth classes. Turns out that our kids really liked it too, essssspecially the youngest ones. Just watch how much the 5-7 year olds jam out through the entire song. If that's not enough to make you smile, you probably have Frowninson's Syndrome. You know, that stinkface disease that Lena Headey and Sean Penn and like our 8th grade science teacher had? We're talkin' to YOU, Mr. Horner!

Anywhatzit, if you're looking to chill for two minutes and enjoy some kids gettin down with their thang thizzle, consider this video your momentary oasis.

Song: Rap God - Artist: Eminem - Summer 2013

Get "Rap God" from Eminem @ http://www.amazon.com/Rap-God/dp/B00GBCMCNO. It's also available on iTunes.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: In the 2013 Summer session of B-boy/B-girl classes at FUNKMODE, we decided to focus on footwork. We wanted to give the kids a good basis for moving on the ground and looking good doing it. Throughout the session they focused on the basics like 2-steps, 4-steps, 6-steps, and 3-steps and then combined it with other skills to give them some depth. Then, we busted out our cameras and let them show off what they learned. We also learned that if you get too close to a kid when they're bustin fast feet, your expensive equipment can become suddenly worthless. But don't worry, no cameras were harmed in the making of this video.

We set the reel to "Rap God" by Eminem because, well, it's hot. Nothing more complicated than that. Hope you enjoy watching these little breakers as much as we enjoy teaching them!
